I realize that all of our graduating seniors and their families and friends are disappointed and upset that our ceremony won’t be taking place at Toyota Park and will instead be taking place at the Swanson Gymnasium. Unfortunately, we needed to let the people who run Toyota Park know a day in advance whether or not we would have the ceremony there. They needed that notice so they could schedule their security, ushers, A/V people and other support personnel. I have been consulting with the United States National Weather Service over the weekend and through the morning on Monday and the official forecast calls for a 50% chance of thunderstorms, and there is a threat of severe thunderstorms with lighting associated with the storms. I made the decision to move the ceremony only very reluctantly, and only to ensure everyone’s safety. I promise that the ceremony will be beautiful and that your family and friends will be made as comfortable as possible.

2013 Commencement Info
Due to the uncertainty of the weather situation, we have decided to move the 2013 Commencement to the Swanson Gymnasium to ensure everyone's safety. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m.
We will be broadcasting the commencement live into our Bulow Auditorium for any group larger than the ticket allocation will allow.
All parents who paid for suites at Toyota Park will receive full and complete refunds.

ReplyDeletePlease do not disappoint the seniors like this... either move the commencement back to Toyota Park (the National Weather service has already reduced the chance of storms), or set it up on the football field. Please do not make Argo Parents and Alumni sit in the hot Swanson gym, sweating through over 300 names. It is not right and the ceremony could be moved to Thursday or Friday!
