The Argo Community High School sophomore baseball team decided that they wanted to get involved with Misericordia’s annual Candy Days. Candy Days will be taking place the weekend of April 26th and 27th throughout the Chicagoland area.
More than 7500 volunteers will be collecting donations and issuing a small gift of Jelly Belly candy in return for any monetary contribution. For a week and a half the sophomore team gave up their lunch hour to collect donations in the cafeteria. Over that time the sophomore team was able to raise over $600 dollars.
The donations from Argo and the rest of the Candy Day fundraiser will support Misericordia’s residential, vocational, therapeutic, and recreational programs. Misericordia is a community of care that maximizes potential for persons with mild to profound developmental disabilities, many of whom are also physically challenged. Misericordia also serves the families of these persons who want the best for them, yet cannot provide the services that they need. Misericordia is located on a 31-acre Chicago campus and currently serves more than 600 children and adults from diverse racial, religious and socio-economic backgrounds.
The sophomore baseball team hopes that if you see a Candy Day Volunteer on the road April 26th or 27th that you do your part and donate to a worthy cause.
