Greg Kolke Baseball Biography

Starting at Argo HS in 1993, Coach Kolke was assigned as an assistant coach for first 4 years. Taking over a struggling program, he made the Argonauts into a respected and competitive squad during his tenure.  He was at the helm for 16 years having a 4 year run of 20 plus wins from 2002-2006, winning the regional in 2004 (first regional since 1976, 6-1 victory over Lyons).

Personal accolades include earning the SICA North Coach of the Year in 2003, South Suburban Sportsmanship Award in 2010, 2012 and 2013 and earning over 220 wins.  His career record is (221-317-4).   During that span, he is proud to have the durability, longevity and patience over two decades.

To sum up Coach Kolke’s career, he is about character. Having good manners and treating others with respect are hallmarks ofhis personality.  He leads by example and expects the same from his players.  Respect, effort and sportsmanship are exemplified by this man. His legacy lives on in the coaching ranks with over a dozen former players and assistant coaches currently impacting various programs.

Julius Adams performed with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra

Julius Adams performed with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra last night at Symphony Hall. It was a wonderful performance, and it was amazing to see an Argonaut on that stage! What is particularly inspiring about Julius is that he didn't begin playing the viola until 5th grade, and he has never had private lessons.

He auditioned last spring for the CYSO, was accepted into the orchestra over the summer, and did his seating auditions at the beginning of the school year. He is a member of three different groups within the CYSO, including their top group, and with these groups, he will be performing around the Chicago area throughout the spring. He even plans on touring China with them this summer.

Mrs. Perry, Mr. Mamminga, and Mrs. Guldin were able to attend Sunday night (there may have been other teachers!), and also parents, and current and former Argo students there in support of Julius.
